Frequently Asked Questions

There is some gravel? What tire size do you recommend?

Yes, all of the routes have some amount of gravel, but we don’t consider these “gravel events.” At some point, we rode all of these roads on 23c clincher tires with 120psi. Now that we have 30c tubeless tires and smaller gears, it’s just more enjoyable.

What kind of bike do you recommend?

We gotta say that road bikes win here. We recommend 30c tubeless tires, but a few of the guys in our group still roll 25c clinchers, and they didn’t have any problems. Gravel bikes also work well with 34-40mm tires, especially on those technical gravel descents.

What will the format be like?

Are you asking if it’s a race? This isn’t a race, but we do have segment challenges and provide a REAL timing company to make sure everyone is scored the same way. No Strava scoring here! Listen, we come from a racing background, so we get the competitive edge. These are our training roads, and every segment is an interval section in some way, so you can see if you can race against our former selves who used to hold the KOMs on all these roads.

When will the route be released?

The Back Roads route will be released a week prior to the event. We hold it because you never know what mother nature has in store, and we don’t want you on the incorrect route for the day.

Where and when is number pick-up?

Regardless of the event, we’ll offer an early number pick-up the night before the first day and a day-of number pick-up.

Will there be feed zones or support along the course?

Of course! That’s what you’re paying for. The thing about these routes is you can’t do them in the way we lace them together without the aid stops. These are a bunch of different training routes put into a single ride, allowing us to give you a really unique way of navigating through the Lehigh Valley that locals often can’t experience themselves.
